Fun Activities in East Sussex

For the Children – Blue Reef Aquarium

One of our favourite fun activities in East Sussex, the Blue Reef Aquarium is perfect for the kids! Experience a real ocean safari at the Blue Reef Aquarium in Hastings. Your children will be able to see the likes of seahorses, sharks that are native to the shores of the UK, a giant octopus and many more, extraordinary undersea creatures.

There’s a massive ocean display which kids will love because they’ll get to walk through a tunnel where there are thousands of tropical fish for them to see. It’s also affordable and educational.

Probably the best and most well-known small zoo in Europe, Drusillas Park is a great day out for the kids! It is home to hundreds of exotic animals, including monkeys, meerkats various birdlife, and every child in the world’s favourite, the Panda!

Drusillas Park also offers an authentic experience called Go Safari! This attraction couples an African themed safari some of the most enjoyable rides the area has to offer such as the Hippopotamus, Flying Cheetahs and the Safari Express train. Trust us, your little ones will have an absolute ball.

For The Whole Family – Seven Sisters chalk cliffs & Beachy Head

A natural wonder, The Seven Sisters is a string of chalk cliffs that are found on the coast of East Sussex, located in between Seaford and Eastbourne. Many people hike from the cliffs all the way to Eastbourne, which is an option depending on how into the outdoors you are.

The walk is 11 miles in total and has many hills and is quite strenuous. It gets quite busy at Beachy Head and Birling Gap, so if you’re wanting the whole place to yourself, we suggest doing it on a weekday. It’s incredibly beautiful.

Brighton Marina

Another of our favourite fun activities in East Sussex, we highly recommend spending a day here. Brighton Marina offers so many activities including an 8-screen cinema, 26-lane bowling alley, casino, and a fitness centre.

If you’re a shopaholic, there is a wide selection of boutique stores where you’ll find many gems! The best part of the marina is the number of different restaurants, bars and café’s that are on offer. There’s something for every palate, from Asian and American to Greek and Italian.

The East Sussex Nightlife – Farm on Friday Street, Eastbourne

Feel like drinking pints in a converted barn? Of course, you do! Farm on Friday Street in Eastbourne is the place to do it. You can wind down here and wet the gullet after your hike from Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.

They have a daily changing menu and are winners of many a beer and wine award. When in season, we recommend their Pan Roasted Cod Loin that comes served with a delicious tomato, chorizo & prawn risotto.

Latest Music Bar

Keen for a night out listening to live music? Well, you should definitely go to Latest Music Bar. Amy Winehouse and Herbie Flowers have even performed at this venue.

It also hosts tongue-in-cheek sleaze evenings and some of the UK’s funniest stand-up comedians. You could say its Britain’s hipper, more unique version of the Hard Rock Café.
